So, it's been a while since I've posted! Life keeps me very busy.....I finally have a head for the body! (see posts below) She is a Dollstown Soph B. Her eyes have been modded to be more open. She is a unique and (I think), intriguing sculpt. She can look young or mature depending on what wig and clothing she is wearing. She has elf ears which I haven't shown in these pictures, but they are kind of interesting, maybe next time.....
Ballet.......I had this idea in my head for a ballet outfit....this is how it translated into fabric..I love eyelet fabric, but it can be very hard to sew. As a matter of fact tulle is a pain in the neck too! At one point in this outfit, I almost gave up, but now I am glad I didn't.......
Being St. Patrick's Day, I should probably be posting something green, huh? All I have in green is archived pictures and sometimes I just feel the need to show new things! Here is something I am working on. Pardon the "no head" shots, but she really has no head...yet! I will be trying to find her one soon. This is a Dolls Town elf body and it is very graceful looking, kind of like a ballet dancer. Her hands are really well done.
I was feeling bored and I have yet another toothache, so I decided to post again.....I went through a phase where I made quite a few of these little yo-yo clowns. They are pretty small and fairly labor intensive, so I stopped making them, at least for now. This little guy is the first one I made and he is still my favorite, though I don't own him anymore! There are about 31 yo-yo's in each clown, all made by hand. They are 1/2" in diameter. It is very disouraging when I was making these and at times, the stringing process would go haywire and break. (The stringing involves using 2 long needles simultaneously) All the yo-yo's would just fall all over the place and I would have to start all over again! The fun part is painting the faces. Each one always had a distinct personality.
Here is another little doll I haven't introduced yet. Her name is Hana Angel. She is by far my smallest doll at about 8" tall and she is quite thin. She has the tiniest feet! Her mohair wig was made by Tinybear and her overalls were made by me. The bakery items are Rement and are just the right size for her. This picture is one that I had used for St. Valentines Day :)
Turns out, I DID have a piece of this pretty pink swiss batiste left. This fabric is such a beautiful thing! I paid way too much for it, I think $21/yard, but it is one of life's little luxuries.....I would rather buy a nice piece of fabric than new clothing for myself, now that's saying something, Lol! I also had some straw left to make a hat that matches perfectly! The bodice is lined, the back closes with hand stitched button loops and little white buttons. There is a lacy tulle underlay built into the band of the bodice. Some of the flowers on her hat are vintage fabric flowers from Japan, I love fabric flowers! Hope you enjoy the picture!
Please meet my visitor! This is Dandelion, she is a 43cm resin doll made by Narindoll. I love this doll, I wish she could stay forever :) Her features are so delicate and SOOO expressive! I might have to make this sculpt my next doll family member!
I had the urge to make a hat! The dress came first and inspired me to make this particular hat.... Beige is just such a great little model for styles like this! I didn't dye this straw, I bought it this shade and I love it :) The underlay of her dress and the bodice are silk dupioni. The bodice is lined in white cotton and the back closes with real shell buttons and hand stitched button loops. There are also stitched loops to hold the ribbon at her waist. I embroidered a tiny rosebud at the neckline to finish the "look" *winks* If you are tuning in because you received a yahoo post from me, this outfit has been spoken for. So, it's finished! I decided against the floral fabric and used a pale pink gingham. I wanted the apron to be the focal point of this outfit. Not much to add, I hope you enjoy the pictures!
I volunteer in the office at my childrens school, so I had no time today to finish any new projects that I can share :). SO, I thought I would share a picture or 2 from the archives! These are fairly recent, but not "brand" new....funny how things become not so new, so quickly!....
This dress is one from last week. It is 2 pieces. The floral over dress is one that I made using a baby dress I found at the store on clearance. I love finding fabrics in unexpected places! I was really happy with the overall look....
I have dolls of various sizes. This is my Luts Lishe. She is considerably larger than Beige at about 22" tall. She is also rather busty. I love making corsets for the bigger girls. It is a way to showcase lots of texture and color in a small piece. My corsets are all fully lined. I don't use boning, but I can't share my secrets of how I DO make them *winks*! All my corsets lace up the back with eyelets and heavy cotton cording.
